The Makah Tribe is in Phase 3 of the Makah COVID-19 Public Health Protocol

On March 22nd, the Makah Tribal Council enacted Health Order 03-21 and approved a revision in the Makah COVID-19 Public Health Protocols.

The Makah Indian Reservation is still in Phase 3, which means that indoor social gatherings are limited to 10, while outdoor gatherings are not limited.

For individuals who are Fully Vaccinated, gathering without face masks and social distancing is allowed as long as no children with risk of severe illness are present. If a child is around who has a condition that might make them get more sick if they got COVID, everyone should wear a mask.

For residents of Neah Bay who travel, if they are Fully Vaccinated and if they only interact with other adults who are Fully Vaccinated, they do not need to do a Preventive Quarantine upon returning to Neah Bay.

CDC Announces Fully Vaccinated People Can Safely Visit Other Fully Vaccinated People

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently released their first public health recommendations for fully vaccinated people. People are considered fully vaccinated after two or more weeks of receiving their final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Fully vaccinated people can:
  • Visit with other fully vaccinated people indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing
  • Visit with unvaccinated people from a single household who are at low risk for severe COVID-19 disease indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing
  • Refrain from quarantine and testing following a known exposure if asymptomatic
For now, fully vaccinated people should continue to:
  • Take precautions in public like wearing a well-fitted mask and physical distancing
  • Avoid medium- and large-sized in-person gatherings
  • Wear masks, maintain physical distance, and practice other prevention measures when visiting with unvaccinated people from multiple households
The Makah health officials are currently reviewing the new CDC recommendations and evaluating changes to the Health Order and the Makah COVID-19 Public Health Protocols.
